Was it a curse or a string of bad luck that plagued the island?
 
Kate didn’t know the answer and begrudgingly tolerated anyone who believed in paranormal activity or curses. She played along, delving into the macabre in order to eke out an existence for herself and her brother in their hometown.
 
Most on the island believed the Callahan family was at the epicenter of the curse. The strange deaths and multiple Callahan graves attested to their belief.  Fearing the curse, the current Callahan matriarch would gladly light the match, letting the island crisp if it meant freeing her family.
 
Kate found herself in a precarious position as Mrs. Callahan handed her a list of very strange demands.
While making her way through Mrs. Callahan’s list, Kate realized the demands weren’t random but intricately woven together as one question sat at the tip of her tongue.

  • All citizens will comply with a compulsory relocation program
  • All citizens on their 18th birthday will receive a mark on their right bicep permanently branding them into a profession chosen by NOAH.
  • Any human found criticizing NOAH will be publicly flogged.
  • Any human attempting to flee the kingdom may receive capital punishment.
  • Any human, and all known associates, harboring a magical creature will be publicly executed.
  • Any non-human creature found in the kingdom shall be put to death in a manner deemed fit by NOAH.
  • Bounties will be paid for information leading to the arrest of anyone violating the aforementioned decrees.
